International Airlink has expanded
its services from a tourism charter
business to full daily service of 10
flights between Tinson Pen, Kingston
and the Sangster International Airport,
Montego Bay.
The company is a spin-off of Rutair
Limited, which made its debut into
the aviation industry 12 years ago.
Its president, Howard Levy a celebrated
instructor, and his family started International
Airlink just under four years ago.
Captain Levy is a graduate of St.
George's College, in Kingston. He
has served as flight instructor with
the Jamaican flight school, Wings Jamaica
and was chief pilot for one of the island's
domestic airlines.
On Thursday, February 3, the airline
launched 'Patriot Service' on its
new route, using a Beechcraft 1900D-seater
aircraft.
The Beechcraft is a twin-engine
turbo prop, which cruises at 320
miles per hour and notably one of the
most efficient and reliable equipment
available on the market. Passengers
are also able to make connections to
the 'capital of casual' Negril.
An interesting feature has been
added to the airline's travel package.
Passengers have access to renting SUVs
and compact cars at an additional cost.
Long before its new route commenced,
the company successfully managed thousands
of charter flights between the Montego
Bay, Ocho Rios, Port Antonio and Negril.
The airline's pilots boast years
of experience, and hold both United
States Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA), and Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority
(JCAA) licenses.
Its director of maintenance, Mr.
Gilbert (Ben) Gunn, is a 22-year
Royal Air Force (RAF) aviation engineer
veteran and has made an indelible contribution
to the aviation industry for over 32
years.
International Airlink's first morning
flights depart Tinson Pen and Sangster
at 7 and 8 o'clock respectively. The
last evening flights from both terminals
are at 5:30 and 6:15 correspondingly.
International Airlink has a staff
complement of over 50 persons.
